Dear Goddess,
I don’t know about you but I am totally addicted to technology these days and the wonders that it brings in terms of connecting with so many wonderful people around the world without limits. However when it comes to unplugging myself in order to find my inner balance, that was starting to prove a bit of a challenge.
Well, that was until a good friend of mine who teaches meditation, came to the rescue with a good reminder!
She said to me something that really struck a note: “Remember to plug into your own {higher} source before plugging into the other source” (ie facebook/ internet and the like) ~ Charise Katz
No matter what your spiritual or religious beliefs, I hope you can take something from this. It certainly meant something to me……For me that means finding a few minutes a day to meditate before the morning rush begins…..and before I switch on the computer to start checking my messages…..and the kids need to be shipped in different directions to kinder and school. Otherwise I am all wound up and tense and the furthest thing from calm!
Or attending my regular yoga class which I have finally committed to, no matter what. Yep, I am finally saying YES to myself!
Each week I walk out of there feeling like a brand new person….lighter, more rejuvenated and better able to handle anything that life throws my way…..with more patience and inner calm.
Or it may just be walking through the park, feeling totally present and grateful for nature’s magnificence.
In fact, there is a new “gratitude walk” I have incorporated into my busy day which has worked wonders for me (my fast lane substitute for a gratitude journal or a moving meditation if you like) and if there was only one thing I would recommend as a positive daily ritual that can change your life, it would be THIS.
As I walk home from school drop off each day through the park, I start my morning by saying thank you for this brand new day, the sunshine, this healthy body, for my beautiful family, the trees, flowers, birds that sing and so on……anything that comes to me in the moment. The more things to be thankful for, the better!
It might sound silly but it really sets a positive tone for the day. I developed this ritual as a coping strategy during a major time of grief in my life a year ago now which forced me to look for the beauty and the positive when I couldn’t see it and didn’t know if I would ever see any vibrant colour or joy in my life again.
Yet I had one of those moments when I knew I would never take anything for granted again. Even when it is cold and miserable outside I still say thank you. It is something I have continued every since……
What has all this got to do with pregnancy or birth? Good question!
Well, as you go about your days with that beautiful growing belly, spare a thought for your baby and his/ her inner world. Your inner space is your baby’s entire world and introduction to what the big wide world is all about.
Whether you are aware of it or not, you are communicating messages to your unborn baby all the time so do your best to protect yourself and your baby from harm or negative inputs or potentially stressful situations as much as possible.
To me, this is the beginning of stepping into motherhood.
****What messages are you giving your baby? Is it a warm, cozy and positively peaceful place to live or a highly stressful and turbulent one?
How can you guard yourself against stress or even better, what positive rituals can you begin to bring more ease, presence and lightness to your day?
Wishing you to find the peace and stillness amongst the madness ~ even if it’s only a few minutes a day!
Try it for yourself and tell me the difference it makes. Or leave a note below.
Yours in peace and stillness 😉
