Karen Wilmot has worked both locally and internationally since qualifying in South Africa in 1990 as a Registered Nurse & Midwife. The majority of her nursing career has been spent working in the field of women’s health, as a midwife in labor & delivery, in clinics teaching antenatal education, in the community assisting women during the postnatal period and in NICU. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher and a clinical Hypnotherapist and integrates these teachings into her work with women.
In 2004 Karen moved to the Middle East to work in a private hospital L&D. During this time she realized the great need for a community service offering support, assistance and education for local and expatriate women and in 2009 Pregnant in Oman (www.pregnantinoman.com) was born.
In 2015 she spread her global wings yet again and set out to provide the same service to a wider audience utilizing the many benefits of technology. Karen is dedicated to providing online support and assistance to women in remote areas while cultivating a holistic approach to pregnancy and birth through her website www.expatsexpecting and in her role as The Virtual Midwife.
Karen offers a calm common sense approach to birth and babies. Her dream is to restore normality to childbirth.
